Aspira are currently seeking an experienced Lead / Senior Developer to start in September for a 3+ months' contract based in Dublin. The ideal candidate will need to be able to commute to the Dublin office, once restrictions allow.
Role
The Lead / Senior Developer will work as part of the data architecture team to migrate data models and data to new optimised data models in SQL Server 2016. These new models will be focused on reducing the physical footprint of data and ease of use for end users. This will be achieved using Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services and C# components.
The role will be focused on migrating a number of prioritised datasets. These data sets are extremely large, multi-terabytes in size, and will be migrated in stages over a 3 month period. The initiative will be managed by the SMSD Data Architecture Manager.
The data sets to migrate and optimise have been identified, some tools and process to accelerate the ETL process have been built, and these may need to be adapted to specific situations where needed. We need to define, implement the new optimised data models and configure the ETL processes.
Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in software development and Business Intelligence implementations
• Significant experience and knowledge of ETLs to transform and transfer data between Microsoft SQL Server databases
• Extensive and significant knowledge and experience of SQL server, design and implementation of databases, with a focus on storage structures, file groups, partitioning, indexes, etc.
• Experience in data modelling including data warehouse and data mart models
• Significant experience in working with large data sets within the Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure
• Significant knowledge and experience in .NET environment predominantly in C#
• Ability to clearly document high-level and detailed designs, and communicate to business stakeholders
• Significant experience with systems that exchange data with other organisations
