itContracting are seeking applications for a Digital Accessibility Engineer. This is a permanent position based with our client in Letterkenny (option to work remotely).
Required Skills:
- IAAP (WAS) or equivalent certification
- Advanced knowledge of inclusive design principles and tools
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodology
- Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Knowledge of Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines and specifications · Strong understanding of the WCAG 2.1 & 2.2
- Experience and knowledge of assistive technology and accessibility-related software, including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Dragon Naturally Speaking or other speech recognition software
Responsibilities:
- Consult with the design, testing and dev teams with the backing of the head of digital on education, procedure, design, testing and development best practices for accessibility within the organisation
- Collaborate with digital teams across the enterprise to promote the need for accessibility.
- Serve as the lead on client projects, providing direction and mentoring on digital accessibility topics and policies.
- Present findings to internal teams and external clients, educating teams on specific accessibility requirements and the use of available tools to proactively include accessibility early in the lifecycle.
- Identify accessibility issues of visual and interactive designs, promoting the use of accessible design solutions and tools to improve the accessibility and functionality.
- Research and stay aware of new development frameworks for creating accessible products.
- Write curriculum and lead accessibility training for peers and clients.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland or currently hold a Stamp 4 Visa to apply.
