The Bid Manager is a senior role, reporting to the Sales Director. He/She works closely with the Sales and Account Management Team and the Solution team to formulate a winning proposal (both price and solution) for the customer.
Control the resolution of incidents and service requests to agreed service level agreements.
To act as a point of escalation in dispute or uncertainty over appropriate resolver group for an incident.
To act as a point of escalation when closure of an incident is disputed by the user.
To act as lead for incidents or service requests which are non-moving or require further follow up.
Review and interpret customer’s requirements in conjunction with Sales and Account Management to ensure the win strategy, win themes, basis for qualification and competitive analysis are appropriate for the type / size of opportunity
Work with the Sales and Account Management Team to ensure that the customer’s proposed solution is at the right price i.e. properly benchmarked, appropriate to market conditions and justified in the mind of the customer.Maintenance of the Capture Plan throughout the opportunity lifecycle
Produce fully costed bid budgets and appropriate bid plans including implementing planning and control mechanisms for multi-party
Ensure compliance with bid facilities and processes including requirements management, configuration management and corporately secured bid library
Ensure that winning bids are submitted on time and in accordance with company guidelines including the formal review of bid deliverables
Ensure work and responsibilities are clearly apportioned and articulated in commercially sound agreements with customers and sub-contractors
Manage the risk plan, with regular reviews, advising senior management of any significant changes. Facilitates the risk management process to identify bid risks and ensure an appropriate risk plan is put in place
Guiding and managing the development of major solution proposals from RFI/RFT through proposal and presentation
Required Education and Experience
At least 4 years’ experience in a similar position
Experience managing a bid coordinator and can demonstrate experience on winning bids in the role of Bid Manager
Ability to lead, enthuse and motivate a team of solution, financial, commercial and legal contributors in achieving the bid win.
Familiar with IT Services and knowledge of public procurement rules.
Ability to work at all levels of the organisation to achieve a result.
