Fender Musical Instruments Corporation ("FMIC") in Dublin, Ireland is hiring a Backend Web Developer to join our R&D Software Development team. You will be responsible for working on music-education based applications which will primarily utilise video and audio to appeal to guitarists and musicians at all levels, beginner- to pro-level. These new app products will focus on learning or practicing guitar while also containing many useful tools for the modern player.
Fender is looking at innovative new tools, products and ideas to stay at the forefront of the industry. As its Backend Developer, you will engineer backend services, databases and APIs that will facilitate our mobile and web teams who are building these amazing music applications.
There will be so much more than “just coding”! You will have an opportunity to influence the design and direction of Fender products. You will represent the Backend team as a key influencer over the design and direction of these Fender products. As a key member of the team, you will influence priorities, technologies and future hiring. You will be working with tech and music enthusiasts in a supportive agile environment.
Overall, you will concentrate on:
· Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
· Manage the interchange of data between the server and client apps
· Build reusable code and libraries for future use
· Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
· Implement security and data protection
· Designing and implementation of data model and database architecture
· Build an API for multiple client platforms to access data

Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar position or relevant industry experience
- Deep understanding of database technologies and data models
- Experience building scalable web applications
- Understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX)
- Proficient use of version control technology (Git)
- Advanced knowledge of at least one (1) backend programming language (Python, Ruby, Scala, Node.js, etc.)
- Knowledge of security and data protection best practices
- Bsc in Computer Science
The following experience is preferred but not required:
- Experience in software testing methodologies such as unit tests
- Knowledge of web frameworks (Express, Django, Rails, Play)
- Knowledge of UX/UI best practices
- Knowledge of Graph Database Technologies
- Knowledge of social network architectures
- Video/Audio APIs
- Working experience in Agile Frameworks
- Keen interest or passion in music
- ...being a musician (Guitar, Bass, other) is not required but highly preferred!
