This role will share responsibility for designing and developing significant components of the platform. Extensive interaction with other development and business team members will be required to achieve success.
The candidate should be readily able to deploy hand-coded scalable, flexible solutions that satisfy current and future business requirements.
Responsibilities
Assist with refactoring, modularising and modernising legacy code to take advantage of recent technology platform versions and development techniques.
Overcome efficiency and scalability challenges to ensure code performs well under load.
Review bug descriptions and change request documents and, where appropriate, collaborate with team members to propose a solution.
Implement bug fixes and enhancements.
Introduce flexible, reusable and extensible server side components
Provide development support to the business when required
Required Skills
* Degree in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
* An expert in high performance transactional Java server side development
* 5 years minimum experience with:
* Java
* Multi-threaded programming
* Spring, Hibernate and related frameworks
* Messaging protocols
* Oracle
* Linux environment experience
* Strong source control management ideally in SVN including extensive use of code branching and merging
* Experience of integrating with and deploying open source project frameworks
* Self-starter, with strong self-management skills and the ability to perform under pressure
* Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities
