Network Engineer – Wireless / LAN/WAN

 This role will involve configuring and implementing network infrastructure such as firewalls, switches, routers, access points , wireless controllers and to carry out wireless site surveys for our enterprise clients.

The Network Engineer will be expected to liase directly with our clients and respond to and issues they may have by providing remote support should it be required.

We are multi-vendor environment, using network, security, and WIFI equipment from vendors large and small.

A working knowledge of wireless technologies( 802.11)  is required.

This role does not involve any hands-on work with PC’s or servers 

We are seeking to add an experienced IT Engineer to our workforce who will be principally responsible for design, configuration and implementation of  routing, switching and wireless infrastructures for our client base. Troubleshooting networking issues with remote diagnostics and assistance where applicable will also be a responsibility.

The role will encourage pre-sales assistance and technical design for both customers and members of the Dimension Network Systems sales team.

We require a dedicated, intelligent, hardworking and focused individual with at least 1-3 years experience of hands-on customer-facing roles. Either working alone or as part of a small support team, you should be prepared for the challenges of working directly with our clients which may include providing out-of-hours support at short notice, managing multiple support issues with conflicting deadlines and ensuring that all support tasks are completed within SLA.

You should also preferably have previous experience of onsite and/or field support, a significant level of Industry Standard Certification ideally Cisco, Avaya, HP, Motorola Ruckus or equivalent matched with a good positive attitude towards all aspects to customer satisfaction. A very good understanding of routing, switching and wireless technologies is essential

Job Description                  Network Engineer

Reporting To                      Technical Manager

Primary Objective

The position is primarily a customer facing hands-on role configuring and implementing routers, switches and wireless infrastructures. The successful candidate will also provide Level 2/3 support for all IT-related customer issues, through onsite and consultancy support as well as remote diagnostics / assistance and in house pre-sales support for our energetic sales team.

 Responsibilities

·          Implementation & support of  LAN & WAN & Wireless network infrastructure for our multiple clients

·          Day-to-day support of our customers' IT needs, from customer technical questions to level 3 wired & wireless network outages.

·          Provide support via onsite consultation, field support or remote diagnostics and assistance.

·          Work to meet SLA's

·          Deal with third-party vendors to resolve issues where necessary

·          Liaise regularly with the technical manager to report on support issues

·          Build long-term relationships with key customers

·          Provide pre-sales consultation to sales staff and/or customers

Skills / Experience Required

·         Minimum 1-3 years relevant network configuration and implemenation experience including field and remote diagnostic support

·         3rd level degree in computer science or technical discipline is desirable but not essential

·         Industry certifications from leading manufactures such as Cisco, Avaya, HP, Motorola, Aruba, Ruckus or equivalent

·        Excellent knowledge of the following a requirement:

·        IEEE Ethernet Routing, Switching & Wireless Technology standards with emphasis on Wireless, Voice & Data traffic, 802.1q tagging, Prioritization, loop avoidance protocols, encryption and design.  Layer 3 routing protocols RIP, OSPF & EIGRP and network design

·       TCP/IP, IP Addressing and Subnetting, NAT, Firewalls and VPNs

·        DHCP / Active Directory

·        Wireless 802.11 2.4GHz & 5GHz technologies and ratified standards.

·        Wireless Encryption and Authentication technologies

·        Hands on experience of configuring and fault diagnosis on leading manufacturers wired & wireless Networking equipment.

·        A Full Driving License
