HUDSON IT & TELECOMS ARE SEEKING A DEVELOPER FOR A PERMANENT ROLE IN DUBLIN CITY CENTRE.
You will work in a team responsible for building and supporting enhancements to our application suite that has over 350 users and growing. Applications are in Python with a thin layer written in .NET.
There is more of a focus for Python development capabilities than .Net as a requirement but solid software developmental skill in either will be considered. The team will also be looking at core technical capabilities including: Object Oriented Programming, Test-driven ( including QA ) , Service-Oriented Architecture, SQL, scripting and web technologies.
The system leverages a Service Oriented Architecture running over SonicMQ with a SQL Server backend. Depending on the enhancement, you may need to make a change in one or more of the application components.
You will join our client's first development team in Ireland. This is a great opportunity to be among the first hires, to grow quickly with an ambitious group of talented people, to learn and lay foundations for further self-development and to develop, test and validate high quality, high performance applications in a fast paced environment. You will need to show initiative in spending time learning the system and business processes, integrating with the company's cutting edge development practices and acquiring knowledge of the technologies we use. As we have a large development team in the US you will need to pay particular attention to communication with the developers there and to cultivate that relationship to give your local team the best chance of success, where success is measured by solving clients' and users' problems in a timely, accurate manner.
Requirements
* Understanding Agile Methodologies and related programming practices like TDD, Pair Programming, and Code Craftsmanship, with a passion for continuing to learn
* Strong understanding of OOP concepts, extensive experience in any language
* Ability to understand and utilize existing code written by other developers
* Creative thinking and problem solving skills
* Desire and ability to participate in Whole Team approach to building and validating application enhancements
* Desire to learn and understand how our applications are helping the business users, and how the business functions in general
* Ability to work closely with business users to understand enhancement requests and iterate toward a solution.
* QA skills and experience highly valued but not necessary. Willingness to take responsibility for maintaining quality code and software in the team.

* Proactive self-starter, with minimum guidance or management required
* Be self-motivated and have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team
* Must be a good communicator
