Hudson IT & Telecoms are seeking a Senior Software QA Engineer for a 1 Year Fixed Term Contract Role based in Dublin City.

As a Snr Software QA Engineer with responsibility for a platform, you will contribute to the strategy and approach to platform testing.

As a Snr Software QA Engineer with responsibility for a platform, you will contribute to the strategy and approach to platform testing. You will own the test resourcing, planning, and execution of all testing on one of arvato's platforms. You will understand and influence the scope of testing required and drive maturity in this area. You will create estimates, test documentation, perform & lead test execution & complete close-out reports. You will be responsible for ensuring the project teams consider PCI compliance as part of any change to our production systems. You will play a key part in the on-going improvement and development of internal processes within SQA as well as mentor others on the use of testing tools and methodologies. You will partner with other teams such as Audit & compliance, Security, Application development, IT Services, Client Professional Services & business to ensure highest quality input & output. You may be called upon to give internal presentations on tools, processes & procedures. You will provide data & results to back up ROI for the company investment in this area

Duties & Responsibilities:

Participates or provides leadership for multiple SQA activities. Is self-managed to react to and provide support to both IT and business teams. Performs and assists with SQA testing, best practice process improvements, or tool support.

Solutions: Provides advice and support to other business areas in the use of arvato's SQA processes & procedures. These could include: best practices/methodologies, SQA and end-to-end testing or tool selection, automation and use.

Test Planning: Develops and maintains test plans, test environment (ensure availability and setup/configuration), test cases, test scripts and/or use cases, independently. Direct testing and carry out test execution as required.

Capacity Planning: Reviews resource needs for upcoming test area/platform changes and co-ordinate resource allocation accordingly.

Distributing project tasks to team members and provide guidance, and assistance to the team in the execution of their testing assignments, resolving any issues and ensuring their needs are met

Documentation: Contributes to the development of business documentation. Delivers business documents related to arvato's quality assurance programs that could include best Practices, testing or tool support.

Leads/ coordinates and assists in the creation and maintenance of arvato's quality assurance program material at the department level. Includes documents, Intranet (SharePoint), Implementation guides and Wiki updates etc.

Automated Tool Use: Evaluates environment, conditions, and criteria under which automation should occur. Provides training support to team members and trainers. Leads the development of tool architectures.

Testing Improvement: Implements improvements to test techniques, projects and audit processes to create efficiencies.

Production Readiness Evaluation: Provides input on specific test area, platform or client for readiness meeting before production push. Provides SQA results, risk assessment and go/no go recommendation

Post-Implementation: Provides support post implementation to IT Services teams

Responsible for giving "go" recommendation for platform production changes based on test results.

Ensure key test cases from new projects are considered for inclusion to the platform regression pack

Produce accurate estimates for work to be carried out. Help manage project budgets by highlighting potential overruns to the PM team. Help come up with alternative approaches to help keep projects on time and on budget.

Introduce and report on metrics & measures showing trended status and quality on the services offered. Highlight defect catches - demonstrate value add.

Input to & translation of project requirements & functional specifications into test requirements

Reporting to the line manager and leads in clear, accurate, proactive and timely manner

Mentor other team members and bring them up to speed

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of testing in an IT environment.

Experience of testing back end billing & financial software an advantage.

Expertise with a tool called FitNesse a distinct advantage.

Experience with MicroStrategy, or similar data warehousing tools an advantage.

The ability to initiate and follow through on tasks and improvements of all levels of complexity

Initiative to work independently & proactively on project and financial related activities

Ability to communicate clearly the steps required to reproduce any software problems identified

The successful candidate should have the ability to integrate into a team and deliver a high level of quality efficiently, effectively and professionally at all times.

Skills and Experience:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and typically 5 to 7 years' experience in systems analysis and programming and QA or 7-9 years relevant work experience

Can demonstrate excellent understanding of most of the following:

Focus on SQA - methodologies, industry best practices, structured processes and process automation.

Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding. Fluency in English is essential

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail

Test Tools: Is proficient in the use of the supported SQA tool suite.

Excellent knowledge of Oracle or relational dBs, SQL, UNIX/LINUX, batch file scripting & automation tools

Testing of Java web based applications.

Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office packages

Desirable:

Formal training in SQA methods e.g. ISTQB training.

Attends conferences and/or user groups; belongs to professional organizations e.g. SoftTest Ireland, ISTB, and Vivit etc.

Experience with automating test scripts using tools such as Sahi & Selenium an advantage.

Project Management / resource planning and scheduling experience desirable.
