Market Data/ Unix Administrator

A well established financial firm in Dublin City Centre is looking for a Linux/ Unix Administrator to join their existing team. The role will be a mix of technical and business related skills which will involve getting business exposure in Market data system (Bloomberg/ Reuters and Investment banking)

Key Responsibilities

Job Duties •Research, documentation and presentation of solutions for identified business initiatives •Good analysis and problem solving skills •Develop and maintain support documentation to standards •Interact with technical and non-technical staff •Implementation and management of market data products and platforms •Keep abreast of exchange developments and market trends •Work in a structured and organised manner

Qualifications & Skills Required •B.Sc. in a technical discipline •Three years hands-on experience with Sun Solaris, Linux (SUSE and RHL) •Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively across all business units in the organization (technology, trading and operations) •Well organized and articulate with ability to document and present solutions to peers, line management and business sponsors •Good analysis/investigative skills with the ability to resolve problems effectively and quickly •Experience of working under pressure for extended periods of time •Ability to work to direction and/or under own initiative, prioritising tasks as required •Interest in developing knowledge/skills in understanding the financial markets environment

Desirable •One years practical experience with market data providers such as European bourses, Reuters and Bloomberg, and understanding of infrastructure (Reuters RMDS, DACs/Open DACs, Bloomberg Open Terminal, Bloomberg Bpipe, Wombat entitlements) •Appreciation/understanding of products in the European equities and derivatives markets •One years trading application experience in a financial institution (trading room environment and direct exchange experience an advantage) •One year’s practical experience of managing vendor relationships •Ability to develop scripts in various languages e.g. UNIX shell, PERL, SQL, Windows batch •Knowledge of products in the European commodities and power markets •Experience with Wombat feed handlers
