Junior Application Support Engineer

Location: : Dublin South - Central Dublin
Rate: € 30 to € 35 K (permanent)

Excellent financial services client requires a Junior Application Support Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities
Providing IT support to the users of the Life and Pensions Administration system. The system runs on IBM iSeries, key tasks include:
Provide quality second level support to the users of Bank channel business administration systems, this will involve producing reports and dealing with queries received to the Capsil Support mailbox.
Provide an effective interface between the User and the IT development and DBA teams, referring problems with full diagnostic information, ensuring issues are brought to conclusion and implementing agreed on-site solutions or workarounds within acceptable time scales.
Responsible for the delivery of high quality projects adhering to existing standards and audit requirements.
Provide remote On-Call support for overnight batch processes.

Knowledge and Experience
Qualifications: Third-level I.T qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience: Evidence of a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving. Experience in managing multiple tasks simultaneously and in the delivery of projects to meet agreed deadlines. Experience of working in an Application Support environment would be an advantage.

Technical Skills: Strong programming experience and must be competent in at least one technology area. Experience of Structured Query Language and/or a Mainframe/Midrange environments would be and advantage.

Other Skills: Overall understanding of basic hardware and software architectures and their components. System Development Life Cycle experience & understanding of Life and Pensions business would be an advantage.
