IT Web Support - D7The Law Society is the professional body for the solicitors’ profession. We are inviting applications for the position of IT Web Support person to work closely with the Web Editor to develop the Society’s web-based communications with its members, trainees and the public. Together they will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the Society’s current and future suite of web-based systems, including its Internet presence across three websites, its Intranet and its e-zine/e-bulletin communications with the members of the solicitors’ profession.IT Web Support• In addition, they will assist the Society in exploiting the latest communications opportunities to maximise the efficiency of its web-based products and services, its data collection systems and information dissemination processes.• Other duties will include the support of CISCO telephony, Citrix administration and other IT Support.• The IT Web Support will have an IT background and will be responsible for all technical aspects of the Society’s current and future web-based systems.• S/he will be completely familiar with all aspects of ‘back-end’ web technology, including web coding. • S/he will deal with all web server issues, hosting, security and firewall configuration, fault resolution, providing regular IT support to the Web Editor and s/he will be responsible, together with the Web Editor, for the technical assessment and delivery of all new communications tools and processes associated with the Internet and Intranet.• S/he will have the ability to create and modify ‘wireframes’, in order that the Society will retain a higher level of ownership of its own web processes.• The IT Web Support will work with the Web Editor to build specifications for new communications systems and processes and will work with the IT team to enable the most efficient level of communication between the Society’s databases and the web. • S/he will be responsible for devising cross-functional IT systems for the capture and efficient usage of data and for the introduction of new web-based processes, e.g. an integrated billing system.The existence of a close and supportive working relationship between the Web Editor and IT Web Support will be essential and they will be expected to work in tandem to assess, prioritise and deliver the Society’s e-communication needs, with direction from senior management of the Society. As with all Law Society executive positions, the position is being offered initially on a two year fixed-term contract basis.Qualifications:The IT Web Support will have a relevant IT qualification, will have previous experience in web development and a full understanding of HTML, HTTP/S, .NET 2 and XML. S/he will be able to support Photoshop, Adobe and other packages used by the Web Editor.
