IPTV Network Operations Engineer Unix - contract

IPTV Operations Engineer wanted for 1 year fixed term contract!!

To provide effective 2nd line customer support for the full range of IPTV's services in accordance with customer service objectives and participate in the operation and maintenance of IPTV's systems and networks infrastructure to ensure service availability.

Key Tasks
Responsibilities
Customer support:
• Provide 2nd level support to the IPTV customer support centres
• Ensure that problems are escalated to 3rd level support areas in a timely fashion
System and network administration:
• Operational support and monitoring for key IPTV Head end components including Satellite Equipment, Encoding equipment, Encryption Servers, VOD servers, DB servers.
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining quality of service for TV and Video broadcasts.
• Administration and support of Unix (Solaris, LINUX, FreeBSD) and Windows-based servers:
 Internet service infrastructure including Radius authentication servers, Domain Name Servers, DHCP, walled Garden, web content servers.
 Business Support systems and Interfaces
• Respond to alarms for systems and networks faults to ensure timely restoration of service
• Carry out system admin tasks for internal systems and customers systems e.g. backups, remote hands for Content customers, OS upgrades and patching
• Carry out service and infrastructure support activities in accordance with defined processes and assist in process improvement and task automation

As a member of the Operations team, the postholder will be required to provide on-site support at service locations as required on a scheduled basis. He/she will be expected to participate in Shift/Rota schedule and/or an on-call rota for after-hours support of priority customers and services at any of the service locations.

Previous desirable experience
• Minimum of three years relevant technical experience in TV, broadcasting or Internet operations/customer support environment supporting some of the following:
Satellite, Encoding, CA, VOD, Broadcasting equipment and associated middleware and/or Internet services, server O/S (Unix, Windows 2003), Apache, XML, Cisco devices. Experience with LAN/WAN, mulitcast and IP networking.

Skills & Qualifications
• Knowledge of VOD servers, Satellite Receiving Equipment, DVB standards, Broadcast Automation, Broadcast Clusters Servers
• Administration skill - Unix (Solaris, LINUX, FreeBSD) and Windows
• An understanding of Internet protocols and applications including TCP/IP, Multicast and unicast, Radius, DNS, HTTP
• Good communication skills in dealing with customers and escalations from support and sales areas
• Good Troubleshooting skills - logical and systematic approach to problem solving
• Ability to work under pressure.
